About Alan
Alan Marriott has been teaching and performing internationally for over 25 years. His professional career spans many disciplines including voice acting, coaching, teaching improvisation, creativity in marketing, writing, and performance for stage, radio, film and television.
Having misspent his childhood endlessly watching Looney Tunes cartoons, Alan Marriott has been fascinated with different dialects, accents and voices for as long as he can remember.
His voice can be heard in popular animations, from Scoop (Bob the Builder), Grand Sensei Dareth (Lego Ninjago), as well as feature films like Astrix - Mansions of the Gods and Planet 51, where he starred alongside John Clees and Dwayne “The Rock'' Johnson. In advertising he has been the voice for campaigns such as Smuckers Peanut Butter, MBNA Credit Card and White Spot Restaurants.
Alan built his early comedy and character chops with improv in Vancouver, Canada working with Colin Mochrie, Ryan Styles and improv pioneer Keith Johnstone. After relocating to London to train at LAMDA (where he studied dialects with Andrew Jack), Alan began teaching voice and establishing improv in London, training soon to be comedy legends like Eddie Izzard, Alan Davies, Fay Ripley, and Jeremy Hardy.
With a unique CV spanning improvisation, music, acting for stage, film and television, coaching, voiceover acting, creativity training, and global language and dialect exploration, Alan’s love of language and the spoken word is infectious, with recent TikTok posts going viral (well over 1 million views) to a new audience that eagerly embraces his entertaining monologues on the origins of accents.
Alan teaches voice acting at LAMDA and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Additionally, Alan also coaches actors for dialects in film and television. He regularly performs in London and throughout Europe with the Grand Theft Impro Team and Slattery Night Fever (with Tony Slattery). His debut book on creative thinking and improvisation sums his message up well…‘Genius Now!’
